Daily Itinerary

Day 1: The Journey begins!

Welcome to Peru!  After your day of travel, our private driver is waiting at Lima International Airport to transport you to our hotel in Mira Flores, a beautiful old section of the City of Lima.

Overnight : Mira Flores

Day 2: Lima/ Cuzco

Mid-morning flight from Lima to Cuzco.

Located high in the mountains of Central Peru, Cuzco serves as the gateway to the Sacred Valley beyond. The city's picturesque, old world atmosphere inspires lightheartedness, even as the altitude (10,700 ft above sea level) may create a bit of lightheadedness. Upon our arrival, we taxi to our hotel in Cuzco's San Blas neighborhood, have a brief orientation and share a cup of coca tea with our hosts, followed by a few hours of rest to acclimatize. Late in the afternoon, we'll venture out again for a leisurely tour of the area immediately adjacent to our hotel. The day's slow-pace gently assists our adjustment to the altitude. Supper will be light fare at one of the neighborhood bistros.

Overnight: Cuzco

Day 3: Cuzco

Today we are off on foot to explore Cuzco.  Cuzco was once the capitol of Peru. The dual influences of it's early Incan founders and it's later occupation by the Spanish are present everywhere. Wending our way down through narrow streets, our first stop will be a tour of one of the oldest Catholic convents in Peru.  Next we walk on to the jostling Central Market; a swirl of sound, and feast of colors, scents and textures. Sharpen your bargaining skills and watch your wallet!

Lunchtime finds us at Cuzco's Plaza Major, with it's spectacular, formal gardens framed by charming red tile roofed, stone-walled shops and dominated by two massive Cathedrals, each built upon the remnants of earlier Inca Sacred sites.  After a lunch of your choice at one of the many excellent cafes, we will reconvene and continue on to the Inca site of Koricancha to tour it's excellent small museum and beautiful walled garden.

Overnight: Cuzco

Day 4:  Pisac/ Ollantaytambo

Rise and shine! Our driver and guide await to begin our day of adventures in the Sacred Valley. An hour's drive brings us to our first stop, Pisac, a massive Inca site with stepped terraces extending up the entire mountain side. We'll set off on  foot from the site's main entrance, midway up the mountain. Following the terraces as they climb upward, we reach a high, narrow tunnel leading thru the mountain to the spiritual heart of this site, the Temple of the Sun and the Sacred Palaces. Our hearts open to the profound sacredness of this ancient place. Enter in silence, and begin to attune to the Ancient Ones who still dwell here. When our time here is complete, it’s a short bus ride…or an easy hike... back to Pisac village, nestled in the valley below. In the village. theres time to briefly visit the large open air market filled with local homemade crafts, before we continue to our second stop, the large working farm, Hacienda Sarapampa  At the farm we share a leisurely Farm-to-Table lunch on the hacienda's terrace with the Owners, followed by a fascinating tour of the farm and closed with special, traditional dance and horse performances. We then continue on to our hotel  in the Sacred Valley.

Overnight: Ollantaytambo

Day 5: Ollantaytambo Sacred Site

After breakfast, it’s a quick walk to the Ollantaytambo Sacred Site located in the center of the village. Ollantaytambo site includes a massive, early Incan pyramidal fortress and a temple built into the mountainside. Here, the ancients created pathways to the Wind, the Sun, the Universe and the fifth dimension. We explore this powerful site together, stopping at several of the Inter-dimensional Portals to experience their other-worldy energies. At the close of our time here, we gather together at the Portal of the Condor to share gratitude and a guided journey connecting through the condor to the Universe and other dimensions. The remainder of the day is yours.

Overnight: Ollantaytambo

Day 6: Machu Picchu/ Aguas Calientes

Today we are off to Machu Picchu!  Stow your suitcases with our hotel, grab a quick (very early!) breakfast, and then join us to walk to the nearby train station to board our train for Aguas Calientes. The trip passes quickly as we zip through mile after mile of majestic mountain views and extraordinary scenery. Upon arrival, we'll have a short hike from the train station to our hotel to drop off any overnight supplies, stop for a mid morning snack in town, and then quay up for the bus trip up Machu Picchu Mountain to the magnificent 7th Wonder of the World! Once on the site, we hike up to the Sun Gate, have an introductory tour of a portion of the main site, learn some of the site’s ancient history, and stop for meditations along the way at places where the energies call to us. At closing time, we return by bus to Aguas Calientes and share an excellent gourmet dinner at a favorite café tucked into one of the back streets of town.

Overnight: Aguas Calientes

Day 7: Machu Picchu

It's another early morning start!  Today we return to Machu Picchu to begin our exploration of some of the less visited areas of the site.  Join us for a hike to the Inca Bridge or for the more challenging hike to the top of Machu Picchu Mountain! Treking upward along paths created centuries ago, this is a perfect time to offer up to the spirits of the land, the mountain and the Universe all that you have yet to release. Upon our descent to the main level of the site, we share in some teachings and visit the Sacred Wacas, the Temple of the Condor, and many other magical temples. In the afternoon, we return by bus to Aguas Calientes in time to share another great meal before our train back to Ollantaytambo.

Overnight: Ollantaytambo

Day 8: Chinchero Sacred Site and Village / Cusco

Our van arrives very early this morning for our return trip to Cusco. Along the way, we will stop in Chinchero, a small Andean Indian village located high up on the windswept plains of Anta. Chinchero is believed by Peruvians to be the mythical birthplace of the rainbow. Traditional dress, still worn by most locals, reflects the vibrant colors of the rainbow and the local landscape. The village overlooks the Sacred Valley of the Inca and offers beautiful views of Cordillera Vilcabamba and the awe-inspiring, snow-capped peak of Mount Salkantay.

In Chinchero, we visit a local weaver’s collective to learn how wool is spun, dyed and woven, and then stop to experience the village’s striking remnant of early Inca times, a massive stone wall with ten trapezoidal niches, located adjacent to the village's central plaza.  There are also many other ruins, including sacred altars and agricultural terraces to explore.

Overnight: Cusco

Day 9: Sacsayhuaman Sacred Site/ Cusco

After an early breakfast in the hotel, we board our bus for the short climb to Sacsayhuaman Sacred Site, arriving just as it opens. This ancient site, nestled in the hillside above Cusco, remains revered by the Inca as a Gateway to the Stars. Stored within its stones are the keys to the ancient Incan esoteric knowledge of sacred astronomy, as well as the keys to our spiritual history, stored in the Akashic Records. Before beginning our exploration of the site, we ask its permission to enter and then make a personal connection to its energies thru a period of silent meditation.  This is a good time to offer prayers of gratitude, to request guidance from the spirits, and to integrate your journey.

Following a full morning of meditation and exploration of the site, we move slightly higher up the mountain to explore a little of the more ancient, Pre-Inca ceremonial sites nearby, and then walk back to our hotel in Cusco. The remainder of the day is yours to explore Cusco.

Overnight: Cusco

Day 10: Cusco/ Lima

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast, take time to return to some favorite haunts, find that last special treasure, visit the Central Square, or do one final walking tour of our San Blas neighborhood.  Rejoin us at our hotel mid-afternoon. Our driver will be waiting to take us to the airport for our late afternoon flight back to Lima.

Overnight: Mira Flores

Day 11: Lima

The morning is yours to visit one of the nearby museums, make your way to one of the pretty nearby parks, do some last-minute shopping, or perhaps have late morning tea at one of the many charming local cafes. After a noon checkout at our hotel, we’ll store our luggage, taxi to the beach for an early afternoon stroll, linger along the levee for a final meditation or bit of day dreaming, and then share a wonderful early farewell dinner at a spectacular restaurant on the pier. After dinner, we return to the hotel, gather our luggage and transport to the airport to catch evening flights home.
